Brand New BX2200, I can't shift the selector lever out of the mid position. I've tried everything in neutral, idle low etc... any suggestions or similar problems that any of you have had? I don't want to break it. It seems to have alot of flex in it.

There likely will be responses from BX owners, and dealers provide good support for new tractor owners. Specific comments from me may not be too relevant since I have a mid-80's gear tractor with live PTO. New tractors may have PTO brakes, safety interlocks and solenoid engagements that I'm not familiar with. I assume the BX has a hydrostatic transmission and doesn't have a mid-PTO.
In general, PTO's as well as 4wd's engage without forcing the levers, and forcing them isn't good. A previous owner of mine forced the 4wd engagement and I inherited a linkage that broke inside the cases.
Most PTO's and 4wd engagements use sliding gears that can sometimes engage after a bit of grinding, but there is something wrong if they require forcing. On mine just letting out the clutch a bit often repositions the gears so they engage with little grinding. My mechanical linkage does have to move the sliding gear some distance, so there is considerable movement in the engagement lever. The movement feels almost like free-play until it reaches the engagement point near the top of its travel. Then, there is a definite feel of gears going together.
I'd say that if nothing is grinding then it's probably an interlock/solenoid type of problem. If the BX has a mid-PTO maybe there's an interlock between the two PTO's. The linkage could be broken but that seems doubtful on a new tractor. If my PTO wouldn't engage but there was grinding, the first thing I'd check is my clutch adjustment.

When things are new they often are tighter than we like or feel comfortable with. Sometimes it's just paint, sometimes it is just a tight fit. If your dealer is close ask him to come and showe you how or check some in his yard. I would try working it from one end to the other with the PTO off. They are stiff when new and I have noticed it. I can't tell you how much effort I've used as far as pounds but they are hard to move when new. One thing is for sure, if a customer ever walked in with a broken lever off a new tractor he has my attention as well as my shops! ....

I just purchased a 3010 HST, was having a similiar problem, but when i would push in on clutch a couple of times , it would finally fall in place....then i read owners manual one night, and it tells u to adjust throttle just a hair and it should line right up, and sure enough, mine has every time so far....always when coming out of/going into middle range also....good luck ....

I have a BX and have had this happen a few times when I first got it. Try engaging and dis-engaging the PTO a couple times, then move the selector. If this doesn't work, you may have to slowly start to engage the PTO while moving the selector. When the selector starts to move, dis-engage the PTO.

I had the same exact problem. You're right there is a lot of flex in that lever, perhaps too much which was part of my problem. My solution was simple, (although I pulled the hair out of my head for 2 weeks until I figured it out)just take the right rear wheel off and spray some WD 40 on the levers engagement mechanism. It is metal on metal so brand new with a flimsy lever was forcing mine to stick. You may be able to get to it without removing the wheel I can't remember. Good Luck ....
